Charged a kill fee for the first time — brand was furious
They cancelled the campaign 4 days before I was supposed to post, after I'd already filmed. My contract had a 50% kill fee clause. They paid it but sent a pretty aggressive email. Have you had to enforce this? Was it worth the relationship cost?
How long do you spend on a caption?
Genuinely asking because I feel like I waste too much time on this. Sometimes I'll write and rewrite for 30 minutes. Other times I slap something together in 2 minutes and it outperforms everything. Is there a real signal here or just noise?

YouTube Shorts revenue is finally getting real
I ignored Shorts for two years. Started posting repurposed vertical cuts 6 weeks ago. RPM is low but volume is making up for it — roughly $200 extra last month on a channel that was plateaued. Still early but sharing in case others are sleeping on it.
At what point did you stop checking analytics obsessively?
I check mine probably 15 times a day. I know it changes nothing. I know the variance is mostly noise. But I can't stop. Is this a phase everyone goes through or is there actually a discipline that helps?

How do you deal with a collab that flopped?
Did a collab with another creator in my niche. Both channels got basically nothing from it. It's awkward now — they keep suggesting another one and I don't know how to say the numbers don't justify it without being weird about it.
Brand wants approval rights over my caption — how do you handle this?
They're not asking to write the caption, just to 'review and approve' before I post. I've never agreed to this before. Feels like a creative control red flag but the deal is decent. Do you allow this?

Do you disclose affiliate links even when the platform doesn't require it?
FTC technically requires disclosure everywhere but enforcement is essentially nonexistent on short-form. I always disclose on YouTube and Substack. I'm inconsistent on IG. Curious what others actually do vs what they say they do.
